H G Geevarghese Mar Ivanios Metropolitan a native of Kerala, India, was born on November 14, 1940, son of Mr. K.I George and Mrs. Annamma Keeyathu, Othara. After attending schools and colleges, he completed theological studies, MA in Hebrew and Syric from Maryfield, England and M.th from Oxford University. He was ordained as priest in 1973.
