Dr. Mathews Mar Severios, a native of Kerala, India, was born onFebruary 12, 1949, son of Mr.Cherian Anthraose and Mrs.MariyammaVazhoor,Kottayam. After attending schools and colleges, hecompleted theological studies at the Orthodox TheologicalSeminary at Kottayam. He was ordained as a priest in June 30, 1977

This institution is the outcome of the untiring efforts of H.G.Dr.Mathews Mar Severios,the Metropolitan of the Diocese of Kandanad.It functions under the aegis of the Mar Pachomios Charitable Society.The centre is committed to providing life-long shelter,care and service of destitute,developmently disabled,and differently abled women,without prejudice to caste,colour or creed


The inspiration for the establishment of the centre was provided by the St.Gregorios Orthodox Youth League of Muscat during Mar Severios' first visit to this Parish.It has contiuned to operate through the encouragement and support extended by many people residing both within and outside the country.

This home was consecrated on January 14,1996 by H.H the Catholicos of the East with the assistance of several other bishops of the Church.The first phase of this centre's work commenced on 7-3-1996 with the admission of twenty inmates.Their daily care and service is conducted by the dedicated and commited sisters of the Bethelehem convent,Kizhakambalam under the guidance of their mother superior Sr.Elizebeth.Under the tender loving care and selfless devotion of these sisters,the inmates of the Pratheekshalive in complete joy and hapiness.

In addition to education,the inmates are also given job oriented training for those who are differently abled and developemently disadvantaged.Their happiness is our happiness!

This home affords not only physical nurture but care is taken to provide spiritual nourishment too.At Pratheeksha praise is rendered to God for the opportunity to belong to this home through prayers conducted thrice daily.Here indeed they experience God's love!

Christmas,Onam and such festivals provide the occasions for the carefree exhibition of the multifaceted talents of these inmates.

Ample opportunites are available out side the Pratheeksha campus for these talented youngsters to display their athletic abilities.Towards a well balanced physical and mental devolopement,constructive recreational activities are also provided by Pratheeksha.

How can you help Pratheeksha

Remember the center in your daily prayers.

Assist with the care of the inmates in a sperit of service.

By contributing a year's expenses of an inmate:Rs.7500/-P.A.

By meeting the expenses for a day's meals:Rs.1500/-

Include the inmates of Pratheeksha in your family celebrations by giving them food.

Establish an endowment as a departed family member.

Procedures and objectives for the establishment of an endowment

a) Donate Rs.60,000/-towards the life-long care of an inmates
b) Contribute Rs.10,000/-whose interest will meet expenses for a day's meals every year

Information for Prospective Donors

The endowment will be maintained in the name of the person intended by the donor at Pratheeksha

The name of Donors will be engraved on a plaque placed at the entrance of Pratheeksha

The name of the doners will be included in the annual report every year.
