After the end of Mar Thoma II's administration, in 1686 Metropolitan Mar Ivanios anointed another member of the Pakalomattom family as Mar Thoma III as successor of Mor Thoma II. He visited all the important Churches of Malankara during his regime and administered the Church efficiently. The third Marthoma did not live long. After a brief rule of hardly two years he fell ill and passed away on 19th April 1688 ( 9th of Medom) at the ancient St: Thomas Church of Kadambanad, . He was laid to rest in St. Thomas (Valiya) Church, Kadambanad. His Anniversary is on 21st April.
